50 by 25 Harrisonburg stands in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives, along with environmental and social justice groups around the world. We join with those demanding action and justice, and who are outraged by the institutional injustice in the killing of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and too many other Black lives. We will not stay silent in the face of violence, systemic racism, and oppression.
Our organization firmly believes that climate and energy justice cannot happen without racial justice. Black communities are among the first and worst affected by the climate crisis. We commit to doing our part to solve this injustice locally.
We are committed to educating ourselves, listening to, learning from, and working to center Black communities in our efforts. We commit to amplifying the voices and lived experiences of BIPOC communities so that as we continue on our mission to make Harrisonburg a more resilient city, we are all able to share in the same benefits.
Injustice that affects any one of us affects all of us. Black Lives Matter.
